The Grey Goose Archery and Axes Story

At Grey Goose Archery and Axes, we believe there is a better way to encourage people to take part in sport: a more inclusive and motivational way.

We are obsessively passionate about archery and axe throwing and want to share our enthusiasm with you.

We focus on safety. We focus on fun. We focus on inclusion

Our founding

Grey Goose Archery and Axes was founded by me, Sean Fox, in 2005 and was initially called Archery for Schools. I ran the business part time alongside my main occupation: being a stay at home father caring for my toddler son.

I wanted to give children the opportunity to try archery at school as it is such an inclusive sport.

I supplemented my Archery GB coaching qualifications by also becoming a NASP (National Schools in Archery Program) instructor. Even today, there are very few qualified NASP coaches in the UK.

By 2009, Archery for Schools became my full-time employment and very soon I was being asked to attend schools all over the UK.

We were also contacted by many adults wanting archery experiences and so re-branded to Grey Goose Archery in 2010.

Happy archers

New Opportunities

With the onset of the COVID pandemic, I spent much of my time at our outdoor venue where I found the tranquillity I needed in order to plan for the future development of Grey Goose Archery.

In the summer of 2020, after me and some of our coaching team trained as axe and knife throwing instructors, we set up our permanent axe throwing range and also started to provide mobile axe throwing at events.

Axe throwing has proved popular and in 2021 we launched our axe throwing trailer.

The future

The popularity of both our archery and axe throwing activities has necessitated a re-launch of the business as Grey Goose Archery and Axes and the creation of a new logo and website.

Although there have been a number of changes to the business over the years, the philosophy of our business has never changed.

The priority has always been on high quality coaching from Archery GB and KATTA qualified coaches and the focus is on encouraging people to enjoy what we enjoy doing.

What beats seeing someone scream with delight, and surprise, as they hit the target? The answer? Nothing.
